Somewhat less unrealistic lifestyle pic than last time, this car can actually accommodate someone in heels.

I managed to back the XJ into some hard AF bushes that were trimmed but somehow still too long. They jutted into a parking stall and its bare branches were too high for the awkwardly positioned parking camera to catch. Crunch!!

But the 3M scratch repair kit is a godsend. The worst scratch is now only visible if you know where to look for it. I even fixed a scrape  on the 4C which I also managed to back into a bush last year.

That worked great.

Also, the XJ L is a wonderful car. I’ve only experienced them when new, but I imagine they don’t lose much after some time. They also handle surprisingly well for the size.

3M scratch repair kit?  What is this magic of which you speak? I assume you are talking about scratches below the clear coat that wouldn’t buff out with rubbing compound.

Thanks.  Yeah I pretty much got it at the bottom of the initial cliff.  Dynamic Mode lets it behave fairly well for its size (the aluminium frame also helps keep the weight lower than the competition).  It's no 4C but it doesn't have to be a boat if you don't want it to.

They turned out to be moderately deep scratches, so I’m grateful that I could get rid of 90+% of it.

The 3M kit is basically a 2-stage hand buff. Wet sand, buff with  rubbing compound, buff with second compound.

So no color additive or anything.  Got it.

Nice, is that also a 2-stage buff?

No, if it went through the colour coat I would probably have had to get help touching it up.  I don't trust my own hand technique to touch up such a long scratch.

My 85  XJ6 is no sports sedan but it takes the corners a lot better than any American boat of the time and the ride is almost as good.
